Baby Record Books
Baby record books have become more popular
today ever before. When we were children, most parents
kept photo albums or perhaps wrote in diaries. Now,
however, so much information and data is kept from the moment a
baby is born that these books have been the norm rather than
the exception.
What is kept in baby record books? Parent lineage,
names of siblings, pre-arrival information such as pregnancy
photos, sonograms, baby shower pictures and invites as well as
a list of gifts received. Perhaps there are pictures of
the baby’s room included as well.
More to the point, once the baby arrives the baby record
books will begin to fill up quickly. There may be a
letter from mom and dad about the arrival, pictures, name
chosen and why, the traditional hand and footprints, height and
weight, and birth certificate.
In addition, pictures of the baby’s homecoming, pictures of
mom and dad holding baby or baby being cuddled by siblings;
pictures of baby lying on mom and dad’s bed; baby sleeping,
baby’s first smile, baby feeding, and baby’s first night at
home sleeping soundly next to mom and dad’s bed.
As the days go by, perhaps mom adds her thoughts about baby
into the record book from the time the baby was born.
Parents may add information such as news headlines on the day
of birth, baby’s baptism along with invitations and pictures;
and eventually, as the baby grows, more detailed information
would be added such as visits to the doctor, vaccination
information, feeding and sleeping habits, first haircut, visit
to the dentist, and more pictures including holiday pictures
such as Halloween, Christmas, and Thanksgiving.
Birthday pictures, first day of school, special events and
moments; any and all things that any parent would want to
capture either by word or photo are the kinds of information
one would find in baby record books.
Today, while scrap booking has become a popular hobby and/or
business, and although photo albums can capture wonderful
moments during a baby’s life – having baby record books happens
to be a necessity for many reasons.
Vaccination records are important when registering a child
in school; dental records or other vital data is needed in case
of illness or if the family decides to move from one state to
another. This will alleviate having to request documents
at a moment’s notice. A birth certificate is needed for
foreign travel. Other data needed may include allergies
to certain medications, any pre-existing conditions, and the
like.
Form the time a baby is born; baby record
books detail just about every known quantity about a
baby. Recording memories and taking pictures are a
natural process for new moms and dads, but having proper
documentation about the baby is a necessary one.
